Why SolveStep exists
Plenty of calculators can tell you that x = 5. Far fewer explain how they got there in a way you could repeat on your next test. Most of the free ones online are built to get you off the page as fast as possible — an answer, an ad, and nothing you can actually learn from.
SolveStep exists to close that gap: a fast, no-login AI math solver that treats the working — the actual steps, in order, the way a teacher would write them on a whiteboard — as the product, not an afterthought.

SolveStep is built and maintained by a single independent developer, not a company or a funded startup. That's a deliberate choice as much as a practical one: it keeps the tool small, fast, and focused on solving math problems well instead of chasing every feature a bigger product roadmap would demand.
It started the way a lot of side projects do — helping someone check algebra homework, and being annoyed at how few free tools would show the actual steps instead of just the final answer. SolveStep is the result of turning that frustration into something other students, parents, and tutors could use too.

How it works, and what happens to your data
SolveStep runs entirely in your browser. When you type a problem, the solving logic executes on your own device — nothing you enter is uploaded to a server, stored, or logged anywhere.
